Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
Hearing aids range in price from a few hundred dollars, to $3000 or more depending on the brand, model, and advanced features such as digital circuitry, directional microphones, noise reduction technology and number of program settings.
At Affinity Medical Technology our prices are typically 20-30% less than our competitors, without sacrificing quality or service.
Is there financing?
Affinity Medical Technology offers a number of financing options for qualified buyers, including monthly payment plans ranging up to 48 months. Oftentimes we offer special one-year interest free financing for well qualified purchasers.
We can nearly always come up with a combination of price and financing that work within almost any budget, even for those on a fixed income.
Can I try before I buy?
Yes! Minnesota law ensures consumers a minimum 45-day trial period, allowing a refund if he or she isn't satisfied with the instrument. We know that dissatisfaction with hearing aids too often results in the instrument ending up in a drawer never to be used again. We do not want this to happen to out patients. We will do everything in our power to make sure you are achieving the best possible hearing with the most comfort. We encourage everyone with hearing loss to, at the very least, give hearing aids a try.
Do I need to have a hearing evaluation / test?
Yes. The only way to determine your measure of hearing loss is to perform an evaluation. The hearing test results indicate how much amplification is needed and at which sound frequencies. The results of this test are called a pure tone audiogram. In addition to the pure tone audiogram, we will perform a free video otoscope exam of your ear canal. The video otoscope examination will allow you to see your ear canal and eardrum, to determine if wax or a middle ear problem could be causing your hearing loss. Lastly, the hearing evaluation includes an assessment of how well you understand speech.
Affinity Hearing's, hearing evaluations, are always FREE and are always conducted by a licensed audiologist or hearing instrument specialist.
Are the hearing aids waterproof?
In general, hearing aids and water are NOT a good combination. However, Affinity Medical Technology offers several instruments that are not only water resistant, but are waterproof. Some instruments can even be worn while swimming.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
The FDA recommends that people purchasing hearing aids have a medical evaluation prior to purchasing them. Although we welcome a doctor's referral, we do not require one.
However, when a patient has symptoms such as rapidly decreasing hearing loss within 90 days, pain or drainage in one or both ears, dizziness or a feeling of fullness we recommend they see their family physician to rule out potentially serious medical conditions.
If a patient comes to us prior to seeing their own doctor, we will report any such problems to their physician and, in cases where a medical condition could be present, refer them to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist.
